Prepare for a masterclass in psychological terror, where the scariest moments are those left unseen.

User Reviews

GothicGhost8/10

“A classic that still gets under my skin. The atmosphere is thick enough to cut with a knife, and the way the house seems to breathe is genius. Not a lot of gore, but the dread is overwhelming. Expected to be bored, but I was on edge the whole time.”

SkepticSam6/10

“I appreciate the craft, but it's a bit too slow for my taste. The scares are subtle and mostly psychological, and I found myself checking my watch. The acting is solid, especially Julie Harris, but I wanted more payoff. It's good, but not my kind of horror.”

HorrorHound997/10

“Watched it after hearing about its reputation. It's creepy, no doubt, but I guess I'm desensitized. The sound design and camerawork are brilliant, though. I just wish the ending had been a bit more conclusive. Still, a must-see for fans of atmospheric horror.”

NightOwl8/10

“There's nothing like the feeling of dread that this movie builds. The way the house seems to have a mind of its own is terrifying. I loved that it relies on suggestion rather than showing everything. A true gem from the 60s that still holds up.”
