It was November 2011 when I first encountered what I would come to know as the “Floor Squeaker.” I was recovering from back surgery, and the staples in my back made it difficult to lie down. Early one morning, I was sitting in my recliner, watching TV in the quiet living room. The hallway to my right led to the washer-dryer doors. Suddenly, I heard an incredibly loud squeak from the hallway. My floors were carpeted, and I had never heard them squeak before. The sound moved with purpose, getting closer with each squeak. My wife was asleep, so it wasn’t her. The squeaks continued until they were right behind me. I snapped my head back, but there was nothing there. I knew it had seen the panic on my face. When I told my wife about it, she dismissed it as a side effect of the pain pills, even though I had already stopped taking them.

The Floor Squeaker returned on September 27, 2012. It was around 6:30 a.m. My wife had just left for work, and I had just gotten off work. Daylight was filtering through the curtains. I turned on the TV and sat on the corner of my bed, away from the mirrored hallway. The distance between my knees and the TV dresser was about two feet. Suddenly, I heard a loud squeak to my right, coming from the hallway. The floor was carpeted, but the squeaks continued, getting louder and closer. Whatever it was, it was heavy. It reached the end of our bed, and I was terrified. The squeaks moved past me, between my knees and the TV dresser, and then to the other side of the bed. Panicked, I ran out of the room, standing in the hallway, in disbelief and anger that it would pass by me without showing itself.

I hurried to the living room to grab my camera, a NIKON Coolpix. I fired it up on my way back to the bedroom, pushed the door open, and took two steps in. There was nothing in the room, but I snapped a picture. There, above my side of the bed, was a white glowing orb. I pointed the camera higher and took another picture. The orb was coming at me, leaving a circular trail behind it. I knew it was heading back into the mirrors. Stumbling, I got around to my wife’s side, sat down, and took a third picture. The mirrored hallway above the door reflected the orb, with a smaller orb next to it.

In my hurry, I had thrown the remote, and the volume was turned down after the second squeak. We had the picture of the orb blown up and printed. It was definitely a mind-bender. If you look closely, you can see the orb clearly.
