The Mystery in the Basement

I’ve never been one to believe in the paranormal, but my friends often share their eerie encounters. Here’s a little tale that has stirred my curiosity.

My uncle lives in an old house, and I can’t shake the feeling that something unusual resides there. He often comes back home and finds his books rearranged on the shelf, even though he usually keeps them in a specific order. He lives alone, so there’s no one else to blame.

During my visits, I sometimes notice a strange flicker of light darting past me, leaving me puzzled. My uncle has seen it too, and we both exchange worried glances, wondering if there’s something we’re not seeing.

What unsettled me the most was when he decided to fix his heating system. He was completely lost when it came to choosing a new unit; he had no idea where to start. After searching for answers online, he finally gave up and went down to the basement to play his guitar, hoping to clear his mind.

As he strummed his chords, a sudden chill swept through the room. It was as if the air thickened with anticipation. When he paused to listen, he could have sworn he heard a soft tapping sound, almost like a rhythm syncing with his music. He shrugged it off as his imagination, but I could see the uncertainty in his eyes.

Later, while he was trying to figure out the heating situation again, he found an old book tucked behind the furnace. It was filled with notes on home repairs, dating back decades. He was astonished. How could that book have been hidden there for so long without him ever noticing? It seemed to offer guidance, almost as if it were meant for him.
