When Ravi was just a little boy, around four years old, he had his first encounter with shadowy figures in his home. These weren’t people from his family, and he had no idea who or what they were. His earliest memories were filled with these dark silhouettes moving about the house. The sight of them would leave him terrified, clinging to his mother’s lap as she rocked him back to calmness.
One night, he woke up and looked down the long hallway from his bedroom. The door was open, and there it was—a large, dark figure standing silently at the end. He couldn’t see its face, but he knew it was staring straight at him. This memory wasn’t like a dream; it was clear and vivid, even as years passed.
Between the ages of three and six, strange activities were a regular occurrence. The most unforgettable incident happened when he was trying to fall asleep one night. Ravi lay on his stomach, with his right arm hanging over the side of the bed. The other side of the bed was against the wall, and his hand drooped down. Out of nowhere, something warm and soft grabbed his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
Ravi let out a scream that could chill anyone’s blood. His parents rushed to his room, asking what was wrong. He told them there was a monster under his bed. They checked, found nothing, and assured him it was just a bad dream, urging him to go back to sleep.
Despite his protests, they left him alone, and he lay there, petrified until the sun came up. The feeling of that ghostly hand was as real as any hand he’d ever held. It wasn’t cold or aggressive, just a warm, gentle squeeze. Years later, another strange event happened, which might explain the source of these experiences, but that’s a story for another time.
To this day, even as an adult, Ravi never lets his hand dangle over the side of the bed at night.
