Last year, my cousin Emily visited a charming town known for its beauty and cool climate. She stayed at a luxurious hotel, which I’ll keep unnamed to protect its reputation. From the moment she arrived, Emily felt an eerie presence but kept it to herself, not wanting to seem paranoid.

That night, she settled into one of the hotel’s most beautiful rooms. As she was drifting off to sleep, she heard strange noises. Assuming it was her roommate, Sarah, she called out, “Sarah, can you stop making noise? I’m trying to sleep.” But there was no response. Suddenly, Emily heard gunshots and people shouting. She dismissed it as kids playing in the hallway and tried to ignore it.

Sarah woke up, visibly shaken. She told Emily she had a nightmare about people killing each other. Unable to shake their fear, they decided to ask the hotel staff about the history of the place. The staff revealed that the hotel was built on the site of a historic battle. It was a bloody conflict, and sometimes guests reported seeing a woman searching for her head.

Terrified, Emily and Sarah checked out the next morning, vowing never to return. They learned a valuable lesson: always research the history of a place before staying there.
