In ‘Mailin’, a mother’s bedtime story unravels into a haunting fairy tale that blurs the line between nurturing love and the monsters we carry inside. As Mailin confides to her daughter a childhood fractured by a ravenous beast, the cozy ritual of storytelling morphs into a nerve-shredding journey through memory and maternal sacrifice. Director María Silvia Esteve crafts a slow-burning atmosphere thick with dread, where every whisper feels like a warning and every shadow hides a hunger. A chilling meditation on the price of protecting innocence, ‘Mailin’ will leave you questioning which stories we tell to heal, and which ones we tell to survive.

User Reviews
WhisperingShadows – 9/10
“I went in expecting a simple spooky tale, but 'Mailin' really creeped under my skin. The atmosphere is so thick you could cut it with a knife, and the mother-daughter dynamic made it feel disturbingly real. That ending stayed with me for days.”
GoreHound_87 – 8/10
“Not an all-out gore fest, but the psychological dread here is top-notch. The way the fairy tale slowly twists into something grotesque is brilliantly done. I loved the ambiguity – it kept me guessing what was real and what was a manifestation of trauma.”
NightOwl13 – 8/10
“The performances were superb, especially the lead actress's portrayal of a mother torn between love and fear. The pacing might be slow for some, but for me, it built the tension perfectly. A rare horror film that respects its audience's intelligence.”
CinePhileNocturne – 7/10
“I liked it, but I didn't love it as much as everyone else seems to. The premise is intriguing and the visuals are haunting, but I felt the story lost a bit of steam in the middle. Still, it's definitely worth a watch for fans of atmospheric horror.”
