In the eerie stillness of a snowbound town, Lydia’s act of compassion becomes a descent into nightmare when she takes in a mysterious, injured boy. What begins as a simple rescue spirals into a harrowing ordeal as the boy’s true nature is revealed in a shocking act of violence. Grief-stricken and pursued by an unspeakable presence, Lydia flees to the one place she hopes offers sanctuary—a local church. But as the walls close in, she realizes that the real horror may not be the boy’s cruelty, but the dark secrets the church harbors. High Stakes is a chilling tale of trust betrayed and the fragile line between safety and terror.
