Ghost Killer

Year 1h 45m
7.1/10

When college student Fumika Matsuoka becomes the unwilling vessel for the vengeful ghost of a slain hitman, her mundane life spirals into a nightmare of blood-soaked retribution. The spirit, Kudo, strikes a chilling bargain: help him hunt down those who betrayed him, or be consumed from within. As Fumika’s body becomes a weapon for the dead, she walks a razor-thin line between her own fading humanity and the relentless urge for revenge. With each kill, the ghost’s control tightens, turning her into a monster she never imagined—while the authorities close in on a killer who seems to be everywhere at once, haunting the line between justice and madness.

“The concept of a possession movie crossed with a revenge thriller is pure gold, and Sonomura nails the atmosphere. The action is brutal and the ghost's design is genuinely creepy. Fumika's inner struggle felt real, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Definitely one of the more unique horror films I've seen lately.”

“I appreciate what they were going for, but the execution didn't quite land for me. The pacing dragged in the middle, and I wish they'd delved deeper into the ghost's backstory. Still, the lead actress did a great job conveying the duality, and the final act had some truly unsettling moments. Worth a watch if you're into supernatural revenge flicks.”

“The premise is fantastic, and the way the ghost speaks through Fumika is chilling. The action sequences are well-choreographed, and the gore is satisfying without being over the top. The ending left me with a lot to think about, which I love. Recommended for fans of films like 'Sisters' or 'The Possession of Hannah Grace'.”

MidnightViewer5/10

“I'm a big fan of Kensuke Sonomura's action films, but this one felt like it tried to do too much and lost focus. The horror elements worked best in the quiet moments, but they were overshadowed by over-the-top fight scenes that felt out of place. Also, some plot threads were left unresolved, which was frustrating. Overall, a mixed bag that didn't fully commit to its supernatural premise.”
