In the smoldering aftermath of a neighborhood torn apart by domestic tension and unspoken grievances, a young Black man named Marcus is haunted by a spectral presence born from the collective trauma of his community. As the apparition grows stronger, it begins to peel away the layers of his suppressed identity, forcing him to confront the demons of his past and the ghosts of his ancestors. With every whispered secret and chilling manifestation, Marcus realizes that escaping the apparition means confronting the very nightmare he’s been running from. A brooding, atmospheric horror that lingers long after the credits roll.

“This film got under my skin in a way few horrors do. The apparition is genuinely unsettling, and the way it ties into generational trauma is brilliant. It's a slow burn, but the payoff is worth it.”
scarecrow_stories – 7/10
“I appreciated the ambition and the cultural specificity, but I felt the middle sagged a bit. The scares are effective when they come, and the final act is a gut punch. Worth a watch for fans of psychological horror.”
darkest_dreams – 9/10
“Ashes Never Rest is a masterclass in atmosphere. The dread builds relentlessly, and the performances are raw and real. It's not just scary; it's heartbreaking. Easily one of the best horror films this year.”

“It's beautifully shot and the concept is intriguing, but I found the pacing too slow for my taste. The scares are decent, but I wanted more visceral horror. Still, it left me thinking long after.”
