Many people think I’m just imagining things. Some say I was too young to understand what really happened. But I know what I saw. I was only 10, but it was a significant moment for me. It all began at a charming lodge where my family decided to stay during our trip to the mountains of Colorado. The lodge was quite new, with a cozy atmosphere.
After dinner, my parents and my older sister took me to the indoor pool. The place was lively, with laughter and splashes filling the air. My sister and I dove into the water while our parents settled into a nearby lounge area. The pool had large glass walls that offered a view of the darkened woods outside, making it feel almost magical.
After a while, my father stepped outside to call my mom, who was enjoying the crisp night air on the balcony. With them momentarily gone, my sister and I continued playing, our voices echoing in the serene space. I decided to take a break and sat on the edge of the pool, letting my feet dangle in the water.
As I looked into the glass, I noticed something strange in the reflection. At first, it seemed like my imagination was playing tricks on me. But then, I saw a shadowy figure standing by the trees outside. It was dark, and I couldn’t make out any details, but it felt like it was watching me.
I called out to my sister, but she was busy splashing around. I hesitated, torn between curiosity and fear. Just then, the figure seemed to move closer, and I jumped back into the water, trying to convince myself it was just my mind wandering. But the feeling of being watched lingered.
When my parents returned, I was too scared to tell them what I’d seen. They laughed at our antics and helped me back into the water. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was out there, hidden in the shadows. That night, I couldn’t sleep, my mind racing with thoughts of what I had seen. Even now, years later, I still wonder about the mystery of that night. Was it just a trick of the light, or was there something more in those woods? I guess some secrets remain hidden beneath the surface.
