The Lighthouse Keeper’s Return

One evening, my father and I sat by the fire, and he told me a story from his youth. He said that long ago, when he was a young man, he and his wife were struggling. Her family did not think he was good enough for her.

One morning, his wife was gone. He searched everywhere but could not find her. He went to her family’s home, and her brother answered the door. The brother said coldly, ‘She has left you. Do not come back here.’ Then he shut the door.

My father was heartbroken for many weeks. He missed his own parents dearly, wishing they were there to guide him. They had passed away several years before.

Then one night, he had a vivid dream. He was walking on a familiar coastal path toward his old home. His father was standing by the gate. His father smiled and said, ‘Do not be troubled. She has only gone to the coast to clear her mind. She will return to you soon.’
