As I descended the staircase, I caught sight of a dark silhouette cloaked in mystery. It approached me slowly, placing a cold hand on my shoulder. Oddly enough, I felt nothing at all. Before I could react, it vanished into the air.
The following day, I ventured down again, only to be met by a chilling sensation that crept up my spine. I paused, straining to hear a soft, sorrowful sound emanating from the small room beneath the stairs. Curiosity piqued, I made my way over and opened the door. To my shock, I found the same shadowy figure crouched down, gripping a knife!
I rushed to my mother, exclaiming that there was a ghost in the house. She dismissed my fears, saying we were moving to a new place the next day, which made me cheer in relief.
The next day, we arrived at a quaint cottage. I quickly selected my new room and began unpacking my belongings. As I turned around, I spotted the ghost sitting on a chair just outside my door. My heart raced, and I sprinted past it, yelling for my mother.
Frantic, I insisted that I had seen a ghost. “There’s no such thing as ghosts!” she replied, unconvinced. Determined to prove my point, I led her upstairs, but the figure had vanished yet again. My mother sighed, urging me to stop worrying about imaginary things. Little did she know, my encounter with the unknown was far from over.
