Our school is called Willow Creek Elementary. We are in sixth grade now, but over the years, we’ve had some eerie experiences. It all seems to be connected to a name we found on an old wooden plaque in the auditorium: “In Memory of Emily Grace Carter.” No one ever talks about her, and we don’t know what happened to her. But strange things keep happening in the girls’ restroom.
The first time we noticed something was in fourth grade. My friend Lisa was washing her hands when she glanced in the mirror and saw a girl standing near the last stall, staring at her. The girl had long, dark hair and a pale face. Lisa spun around, but the stall door was slightly open, and no one was there. She ran out, shaking.
In fifth grade, my friend Olivia and I were sitting in class when the air suddenly turned freezing. I could see my breath, and Olivia whispered that she felt someone standing behind her. When I turned my head slightly, I caught a glimpse of a shadow near the teacher’s desk—but when I looked directly, there was nothing.
Now in sixth grade, we started hearing whispers in the restroom. The last stall would sometimes be locked, even though no one was inside. Once, I was alone in the second stall when I heard soft footsteps moving in the first one. But when I checked under the door, there were no feet. The air smelled damp, almost like rain-soaked wood.
One day, we decided to do a small test. We gathered in the restroom and whispered, “Emily Grace Carter, if you’re here, give us a sign.” The lights flickered, and suddenly, the faucet turned on by itself. We all screamed and ran out.
No one believes us, but we know what we saw. Some of the teachers exchange weird glances when we mention her name, but they never explain. Have you ever heard of something like this happening? If so, what do you think?
