The Encounter at the Old House

It all started during my friend’s birthday celebration when I was twelve. We wandered into her room to play some games, and about half an hour in, I glanced at a large mirror. To my surprise, I saw a little girl with curly brown hair wearing a pale blue dress. She seemed to be around six years old. I knew I had seen something unusual because I was the only one with dark hair in the room, and hers was distinctly lighter.

After leaving the room, I approached my friend’s father and asked if anything strange had ever occurred in the house. His expression shifted, and he informed me that the house had a long history. He then inquired, “What did you see?” I recounted my encounter with the little girl, and he reassured me that she meant no harm. That night, I felt uneasy and chose to sleep at home instead.

Years passed, and now at fourteen, I found myself returning to help my friend and her family move out. They were struggling to keep up with the bills. Once we arrived, I asked my friend if she had experienced any sightings of the girl recently. She shook her head and said no, so we got to work packing up the remaining items in the house.
