The Dream Visitor and the Storm

I have always sensed things that others miss. My partner thinks I have a special awareness, and perhaps he is right.

Just a few nights ago, I dreamed of my father’s mother, who passed away years ago. In the dream, she was standing in a sunlit field, holding the hand of my unborn daughter. I am expecting later this year. I knew in that moment she was not truly there, but her presence felt solid and real.

The following morning, we received news that my father’s brother had been in a serious car accident during a sudden thunderstorm. He is now recovering in the hospital.

I cannot shake the feeling that her visit was a message. A quiet preparation for the news to come, and a promise that she would be a guardian for my child.

Our small house often feels full of another presence. My partner lived here long before me and has his own stories. He once told me how the radio would often turn on by itself, always playing songs from his childhood.
