Our college stands on land with a long and layered history. Decades ago, before the classrooms were built, the property housed a sanatorium for those with a feverish sickness. Before that, it was an asylum for the mentally unwell. The campus is spread across six distinct structures. The Learning Center used to be the communal dining hall. The main office building was once the facility’s medical wing. The science hall occupies the space where the most troubled residents were held. The student union was the old staff quarters. The music department is in the former solarium, and the gymnasium was built where the chapel once stood.
Everyone knows the campus is not entirely quiet. Students and workers alike have reported odd sensations, sudden cold spots, and unexplained noises.
During freshman orientation, one of the professors mentioned that when they cleared the land to build the sports field, they had to demolish an old storage building. It was always the source of problems. Lights would flicker without cause, and the doors would jam shut on their own.
