When I was about five, my mother came out of the kitchen calling my name—I felt like she was taking forever. Suddenly, she froze right in the hallway, silent and staring with wide eyes. She looked scared, as though she’d seen something impossible.

I asked what was wrong. With a trembling voice, she said, “I saw a little blue boy playing here. He had a blue ball and ran through the cabinet like it wasn’t real.”

She explained that the boy looked at her, smiled, then walked right through the wooden cabinet, as if he didn’t belong in our world.

After that, the boy never appeared again. But every time our family walks down that hallway, we feel a chill—as though someone is watching us, unseen.

We’ve never found any reason for it. No one ever died in that house, and no one is buried underneath it—at least that we know of. Still, the memory lingers: a blue child chasing his ball down a silent hallway, invisible to all but one.
