It’s been a long time since anything unusual has happened in my house. Things have been quiet, almost as if everything stopped. Life has changed a lot since then. I’ve gotten married, started a new job, gained new family members, and now have two small dogs. But today, something happened that really spooked me.

I was sitting on the second floor of my home in my favorite chair. My cell phone was on the arm of the chair, plugged in and charging. I checked a text, hit the home button, and set the phone back down.

It was getting late, and I needed to take the dogs out for their last bathroom break. I picked up the older, heavier dog and took him downstairs to the backyard. After he did his business, I brought him back inside and put him on the couch next to my wife. Then I picked up the other dog and got him ready to go out. As I did, our landline phone rang. The caller ID announced a call from our last name, which made me think it was a relative. My wife handed me the phone, and I saw it was my cell phone number calling. The same phone that was sitting on the arm of my chair, still plugged in.

I finished taking the dog out and then examined my cell phone. It doesn’t have our landline number saved in the contacts, so I had no idea how or why it had dialed our home phone.

Right after that, our younger dog walked into the dining room and started growling and barking at the wall. He tucked his tail between his legs and kept growling, which he never does. This went on for about five minutes until I picked him up and moved both dogs and my wife to another room.

This happened just a few hours ago, and I wanted to share it before I forgot any details. If anything else happens, I’ll update the story. Otherwise, you probably won’t hear from me for a while. Stay well.
