This really happened to me, and it’s one of the reasons my family and I decided to leave that house. There was just too much strange activity. This is only part of the story.

Back then, it was me, my husband, and our two little boys. They were around 5 and 9 years old. One evening, we had just come back from visiting family out of town. I was busy getting the boys ready for bed and making a quick dinner when I noticed something odd.

A photo of my youngest son, which had always been on the fireplace mantel, was turned completely backward. It wasn’t crooked or knocked over—it was neatly flipped, like someone had carefully turned it around. Every other picture was in place, except his.

I froze. It just felt… wrong.

At first, I tried to think logically. Maybe one of the kids had done it? But they couldn’t even reach that high without a chair, and I had been with them the entire time. Maybe my husband? But why would he do that?

I called him over, and the second he saw it, he sucked in a breath. He’s not the type to get scared easily, but even he looked shaken. “I didn’t touch it,” he said. And I knew he was telling the truth.

That’s when it hit me—we had been dealing with weird things for months. Picture frames would fall off the walls for no reason. We’d hear footsteps at night when everyone was in bed. My kids were scared all the time. They had bad dreams, saw things in the corners of their rooms. I had even started yelling, “Stop it!” whenever something unexplainable happened.

But this was different. This felt personal. Like something was trying to send a message. And I wasn’t going to wait around to see what happened next.

I begged my husband to move, and after a few more strange incidents, he finally agreed. We sold the house and left.

Since then? Nothing. My boys sleep peacefully. No shadows, no noises, no unexplained feelings of dread. The only weird thing that’s happened is a couple of lights flickering, but that could be anything.

I never realized how on edge I was in that house until we left. Now, for the first time in years, I feel safe. And I never, ever want to go back.
