In the quiet town of Maplewood, there lived a woman named Lisa. Her ex-husband, Mark, had become an angry and bitter man towards the end of his life. Despite their separation and his subsequent relationships, he never got over Lisa leaving him. He saw her as his property and would oscillate between trying to hurt her emotionally and attempting to win her back. Whenever he faced a real problem, like a computer issue or a health scare, he would call Lisa, forgetting all the resentment.

Mark died suddenly at the age of 47, after stubbornly signing himself out of the hospital despite severe chest pains. He passed away on his living room floor, with their older child present.

Two days after his death, Lisa went to Mark’s house alone to retrieve any paperwork and photos that belonged to her or their family. She spent nearly two hours there, sorting through his belongings. Surprisingly, she felt comfortable and safe, not bothered by being alone in the house where he had died. She believed that Mark’s anger had died with him and that he welcomed her presence, wanting her to take care of his personal items.

Lisa returned to the house several times, both with and without her children, to collect their belongings. She never felt the same sense of comfort again but always wondered if Mark’s spirit was watching over them.
