When I was a child, my family lived in a small village. I remember one summer when I was eight, my parents took me to visit my mother’s brother, who lived near a beautiful lake. I was excited to see my cousins, whom I hadn’t met before. They had been waiting for us at the dock, waving and shouting with glee as we arrived.

After we exchanged hugs and laughter, my cousins suggested we explore the woods nearby. They were older and more adventurous, and I followed them eagerly. We decided to play a game of treasure hunt, with one of my cousins acting as the guide while the others searched for hidden treasures.

The forest was thick with trees and the air was filled with the sounds of birds. As we wandered deeper, we stumbled upon a small clearing. In the middle stood an old stone well, covered in vines. My cousins dared each other to look inside, but I felt a strange pull toward it. I stepped closer, peering down into the darkness.

Suddenly, my cousin shouted that he had found a clue nearby, pulling me back to the game. We spent the rest of the afternoon running through the woods, climbing trees, and laughing until our stomachs hurt. As the sun began to set, we returned to the house, tired but happy, sharing stories about our imagined treasures and adventures.

That night, as we sat around the dinner table, I couldn’t help but think about the well. I asked my uncle about it, and he smiled, telling us tales of how the village believed it was enchanted. He said that many years ago, villagers would come to the well to make wishes, believing it held magic.

The summer passed quickly, and soon it was time to leave. As we said our goodbyes, I promised my cousins that I would return soon. Even now, years later, I still think about that day in the woods and the secrets hidden within the old well, a memory that always brings a smile to my face.
