NightOwl13 – 7/10
“I was pleasantly surprised by how well it captured Poe's unsettling vibe. The pacing was a bit slow at times, but the atmosphere was thick with dread. The lead actor's descent into madness felt genuinely creepy, and the sound design of that heartbeat still haunts me.”
GoreWhisperer – 5/10
“The story is classic, but the execution felt dated even for 1989. Some scenes dragged, and I wish they had delved deeper into the psychological horror. Still, there are a few genuinely tense moments that made it worth a watch for fans of the genre.”
SarcasticSpectre – 6/10
“It's a decent attempt at Poe, but not the best adaptation I've seen. The internal monologue got a bit repetitive, and the flashbacks were confusing. That said, the final act had me on edge, and the ending was satisfyingly dark. I'd recommend it to die-hard Poe fans.”
MindGameMaven – 8/10
“For me, this movie is a hidden gem. The way it gets inside the narrator's head is unsettling and brilliant. The, the constant droning sound of the heartbeat was a genius touch. It's not for everyone, but if you appreciate slow-burn psychological horror, this will get under your skin.”
