Set in the late 1980s, The Monster Squad follows a ragtag group of preteens who share an unhealthy obsession with classic Universal Monsters. When their beloved monsters—led by a sinister Count Dracula—materialize in their sleepy suburban town, the kids must put their vast genre knowledge to the test. Armed with a makeshift arsenal of crucifixes, silver bullets, and a monster manual, they face a night of escalating terror and dark magic. This nostalgic horror-comedy balances genuine scares with witty banter and heartfelt camaraderie, as the young squad fights to save their community from being overrun by the forces of darkness.

ScaryFan88 – 8/10
“Such a fun throwback! The monster designs are top-notch and Dracula is genuinely menacing. The kids are likable and the humor lands. Definitely a hidden gem.”
GoreHound – 6/10
“It's a bit cheesy and dated, but the atmosphere is surprisingly creepy for a kids movie. The wolfman costume is a letdown, but the final showdown is epic.”
RetroNightmare – 7/10
“I loved the mix of horror and comedy, even if it's a bit silly at times. The way they use the Universal monsters is clever and it never takes itself too seriously.”
CinephileSue – 5/10
“Maybe I'm not the target audience, but I found it too childish and the acting is rough. Still, the practical effects are charming, and it's a nice piece of 80s nostalgia.”
