In the murky, moss-draped bayous of a small backwoods Louisiana town, superstition isn’t just talk—it’s a curse waiting to be unleashed. When a voodoo ritual goes horribly wrong, a towering, hairy beast emerges from the shadows, terrorizing the superstitious locals who thought such tales were mere folklore. As the body count rises and panic spreads, an unlikely hero rises to face the creature, tormented by a curse of his own that may be the key to stopping the beast. Rugaru is a grimy, atmospheric creature feature that blends Southern Gothic dread with visceral terror, promising a haunting ride through a world where folklore and reality collide.

User Reviews
BayouBlood – 7/10
“I'm a sucker for bayou horror and this one delivered. The atmosphere was thick and swampy, and the creature design felt raw and menacing. Sure, it's low budget, but it's got heart and some genuinely creepy moments.”
HorrorHound66 – 5/10
“The premise had potential but the execution fell flat for me. The pacing dragged in the middle and the acting was a bit wooden. That said, the finale had a decent payoff for those who stick around.”
CreepyCritic – 6/10
“I appreciated the attempt to blend voodoo and the rugaru legend. It felt gritty and atmospheric, but the story could have been tighter. Still, it's an enjoyable B-movie with some effective scares.”
SlasherSam – 4/10
“As a big fan of monster movies, I was hoping for more. The creature wasn't shown enough and when it was, the effects looked cheap. I think the concept is cool, but the execution just didn't scare me.”
