In 1982 Hong Kong, an effigy merchant’s world is shattered when his estranged brother dies, leaving behind a pregnant widow. But something feels off. As he digs deeper into the circumstances surrounding the death, he uncovers a web of deceit that leads him to question everything he thought he knew. The line between the living and the dead blurs in this atmospheric thriller, where every shadow hides a secret and the truth is more terrifying than any ghost. With a haunting score and chilling performances, ‘Ren xia ren’ weaves a tale of greed, guilt, and the ghosts we carry within.

ScaryFan88 – 7/10
“A slow-burner, but the atmosphere really got under my skin. The plot twist caught me off guard, and the eerie tension kept me glued to the screen. Not the scariest, but definitely memorable.”
GoreHound – 5/10
“I appreciate the classic horror vibe, but it felt a bit dated. The acting was decent, but the scares were predictable. Maybe I expected more from the premise, but it didn't quite deliver for me.”
NightOwl – 8/10
“This movie is a hidden gem! The psychological suspense is top-notch and the director's use of shadow and sound is masterful. I loved how it made me question every character's motives. Highly recommend to fans of slow-burn horror.”
HorrorFan101 – 6/10
“It's a solid watch if you're into old-school horror. The story is interesting but the pacing lags in the middle. The final act picks up, but I wish it had more consistent scares. Still, worth a look.”
