In the grim twilight of New York’s late ’80s and early ’90s, a shadow moves through the city’s underbelly, preying on the forgotten. Inspired by the horrifying true story of Joel Rifkin, this chilling film peels back the layers of a seemingly ordinary man who harbored a monstrous secret. As the body count of exploited women rises, a tenacious detective and a haunted journalist begin to piece together a puzzle that leads to a quiet house in a suburb where unspeakable darkness lurks. With every clue, the atmosphere thickens with paranoia, exposing the chilling banality of evil and the terror that can hide behind a neighbor’s smile. A slow-burn descent into madness, ‘Joel’ will leave you checking your locks and questioning the silence of the night.
