For two decades, Paul has haunted the dark, whispering woods, hunting the creature that stole his father. When a local reporter, Angela, begs for his help after teenagers vanish following the Grassman festival, he agrees, hoping to keep the hunt quiet. But as the forest closes in and the legend grows teeth, Paul must call on Beth, and soon the authorities swarm the trees, turning a private obsession into a deadly public spectacle. The deeper they venture, the more they realize that something ancient and patient has been waiting, and the festival’s folklore is about to become all too real.
