I have a few eerie tales to tell, things that happened to me and my family. It seems like we always end up in haunted houses, or maybe we’re just more sensitive to ghostly presences.
My mom and I moved into this charming little house. Everything was normal at first, but a few months later, things took a spooky turn. One evening, we were in the kitchen having tea with my aunt and cousin when we suddenly heard a woman crying in the basement. We all exchanged puzzled looks because we knew no one was downstairs. There was no radio or TV down there either. My mom suggested we check it out, but as we approached the basement stairs, the crying grew louder. We decided to stay upstairs and listen. After a few minutes, the crying stopped. I only heard it that one time, but it left a lasting impression.
Another night, I was watching TV in the same house when I felt a chill run down my spine, like someone was watching me. I turned around and saw a faint, red, ghostly hand reaching towards me. It was late, and I was alone. I jumped up, turned off the TV, and ran to my mom’s room to sleep.
A few years later, we moved into an old two-story house that had belonged to an elderly couple who had passed away. My friend and I were downstairs painting a piece of furniture when the washer door suddenly slammed shut twice. We looked at each other in shock and slowly made our way upstairs. My friend mentioned she had been sitting on the washer earlier, and the door had been closed.
My bedroom was on the main floor, right next to the living room. Sometimes, we would see small orbs of light in there. One night, while watching TV alone, I heard heavy breathing, like someone was snoring in my room. I turned down the volume and listened closely. It sounded like someone was sleeping in there, but the room was empty. We often heard footsteps upstairs as well.
My husband and children also experienced these strange occurrences. Even my teenage daughter was scared to be alone in that house. To this day, they still talk about the old haunted house. The house is now empty, but the neighbor says he occasionally hears doors slamming inside.
Before we lived in that old house, we stayed in a trailer where we had some creepy experiences. Several people, including myself, saw shadowy figures walking around. One night, everyone was in bed except for my husband and me. We decided to go to sleep, turned off all the lights, and got into bed. About ten minutes later, just as we were drifting off, the lamp in the living room turned on by itself. We knew it wasn’t any of us because the kids were asleep, and we were both in bed. It made us wonder if the land itself was haunted because my husband’s brother had a trailer nearby that had burned down years before ours did. When we told him about our experiences, he said they had also heard and seen strange things.
