Unseen Shadows at Midnight

Emma and I found ourselves at a quaint lodge nestled in the mountains. Our school had organized the trip as a reward for winning a regional art competition. Excited, we unpacked and settled into our cozy room, ready to share stories and laughter.

As Emma connected her tablet to the Wi-Fi, the screen suddenly went dark. We thought it was a glitch, but then a strange noise emerged from the device—almost like a faint tapping, rhythmic and unsettling. Emma, feeling uneasy, decided to turn it off and let it be.

Just then, a sound drifted from the hallway. It was the soft shuffle of footsteps, pacing back and forth. Curious, we stepped outside to investigate, hoping to find one of our classmates. As we approached the door, the sound abruptly halted, as if someone had vanished into thin air. We looked around, but there was only an unsettling stillness, with a shadowy figure lingering by the entrance.

Startled, we dashed back inside and called out to the room next to ours. Our friends peered out and claimed they had seen the same shadow near their door. Nervously, we all gathered in the middle, where a connecting door offered some comfort. Despite the strange occurrences, we decided to spend the night together for safety.

But as the evening wore on, one of our friends began to feel unwell. Concerned, we left the room for fresh air. The night was thick with an eerie silence, and we couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched. The looming shadows around the lodge seemed to stretch longer as the moonlight flickered through the trees. We knew we had to stick together, for the night had more mysteries to unfold than we ever imagined.
