After many years apart from my mother, I received the news of her death. My brother and I, along with two of our cousins, gathered to honor her at the memorial service. While we shared stories of her life, the lights began to dim and flicker. Frustrated, we joked that it was her way of getting our attention. We left the ceremony with heavy hearts, carrying mixed feelings.
Once back in our own town, strange occurrences began to unfold. One evening, my partner and I returned home after a night out, the children peacefully asleep in their rooms. I sat at my desk, lost in thought, while my partner relaxed in the living room. Suddenly, the living room lamp began to flicker intensely. He rushed over to turn it off, and we exchanged puzzled glances, uncertain of what had just happened.
Weeks passed, and we settled into our new house. One afternoon, my youngest, who was about four at the time, claimed he saw a shadow cross from the hallway into the kitchen. I shrugged it off, but moments later, a loud crash came from the kitchen, as if something had fallen. My eldest and I both rushed in to find nothing out of place, yet the unease lingered in the air. It felt as if something unexplainable was watching over us, a presence that stirred both curiosity and apprehension in our hearts.
