A few years back, on a chilly autumn evening, something happened that I will never forget. It all started when a few friends and I decided to visit an old graveyard late at night. People always said it was haunted, and we wanted to see if there was any truth to it.
I rode in one car with my friends, while another friend drove separately. As we followed the winding road toward the cemetery, a strange feeling crept over us. The night was quiet, too quiet, with only the sound of dry leaves rustling in the wind.
When we reached the cemetery gates, my heart pounded. They were locked, but that didn’t stop us. We parked outside and decided to walk in. The moonlight cast eerie shadows over the headstones, making them look like figures in the dark.
We wandered through the graves, reading the names and dates on the stones. It felt like someone was watching us, even though we saw no one. Then, my friend in the other car gasped and pointed. We all turned and saw a small shadow move quickly across the road.
We stood frozen, trying to make sense of what just happened. My whole body was covered in goosebumps. Without wasting time, we hurried back to our cars and drove off.
As we sped down the road, the other car suddenly stopped. We pulled up beside them and asked what was wrong. My friend said they heard something hit the back of their car.
We all got out to check. To our shock, there were small handprints smeared on the trunk, like a child had touched it. That’s when we realized—the figure we saw wasn’t our imagination. It was real.
A deep fear settled over us. We could feel something lurking in the dark, watching us. Without saying another word, we jumped into our cars and drove away as fast as we could.
Even now, I can’t explain what we saw that night. Was it the ghost of a lost soul, or something worse? Whatever it was, it left a mark on us all. We never spoke about it again, too scared to relive that eerie night. But I will always remember it as proof that some things are beyond what we can understand.
