We moved into the house on Elm Street last spring. For the first year, everything was peaceful and quiet. Then, around Halloween, the noises began.

Late at night, I would hear the faint sound of a piano. I mentioned it to my partner and our children one evening. Our daughters said they had also heard the music, but they assumed it came from the house next door. My partner said he never heard a piano, but he did hear, just before sunrise, the sound of a child laughing. Our youngest boy came to our room one night, upset, asking who was singing in the hallway. The house was silent and we had all been in bed.

After that, I once saw a shadow move from the kitchen to the living room. Small, bright dots sometimes appear on the ceiling in my son’s room. We even have a photo from his birthday party where a soft, glowing shape is visible in the background, though no one was there when the picture was taken.
