When I was about fourteen, I often spent time at my friend Mia’s house. It was an old place, filled with creaky floors and dusty corners. Mia had mentioned that her home once belonged to a family who had tragic stories, and she believed that strange things happened inside its walls.

One afternoon, while we were in her attic, Mia pointed to a dusty old music box sitting on a shelf. She claimed that it would sometimes play by itself, even when no one was around. Intrigued, I urged her to show me.

Mia carefully opened the box and wound it up, but nothing happened. We both laughed, thinking it was just an old toy that had lost its charm. After a few minutes of chatting, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. The box was slowly closing on its own, even though there was no wind.

I gasped, and Mia turned to look. Suddenly, the music box sprang to life, playing a soft, haunting melody. We exchanged terrified glances as it began to spin, revealing a tiny ballerina twirling inside. It was mesmerizing yet eerie.

Feeling a chill, I suggested we leave the attic. As we hurried down the stairs, the music stopped abruptly, leaving an unsettling silence in its wake. From that day on, I was hesitant to explore the attic alone, knowing that the echoes of the past were still alive in Mia’s home.
