The Old Clock on the Wall

My grandfather passed away a few years back, but I feel his presence remains in our home. We still have his favorite clock hanging in the living room.

My cousin often visits, and she mentioned that she sometimes feels a gentle draft in the room, even when all the windows are shut. Last weekend, we were playing cards at the table when she kept glancing toward the hallway.

I asked if anything was wrong. She said she kept feeling a sudden warmth, like a patch of sunlight, on her shoulder. We tried to ignore it and continued our game.

A little while later, the feeling returned, stronger this time. We both sensed a quiet calm settling over the room. I shared my belief that my grandfather never really left.

She smiled and suggested I should tell him who she was. I looked at the old clock and said, “Grandpa, this is your niece, Clara.”

We sat quietly for a moment. Then my cousin said the strange feeling was gone, replaced by a comforting one. We finished our card game in peace.
