As a child, I found joy in the little garden behind my home. It was a magical place filled with vibrant flowers and whispering leaves. Among all the plants, one particular tree stood out to me: the cherry tree. It blossomed beautifully and bore fruit each spring. I always looked forward to its sweet cherries.
One sunny afternoon, I decided to climb the tree to gather some cherries before the season ended. I picked and savored the juicy fruit straight from the branches. Satisfied, I climbed down, only to notice a strange figure lurking nearby.
It was a dog, unlike any I had seen before. Its fur was a deep shade of midnight, and its eyes shone like two bright stars. I felt a twinge of unease, knowing my own playful dog might not react kindly to this newcomer. I quickly grabbed a small twig and tossed it in the dog’s direction, hoping to scare it away.
Instead of running off, the dog vanished into the tall grass, and I felt a sudden chill in the air. To my shock, the twig I had thrown was suddenly flung back at me, landing just beside my feet. My heart raced as I took a step back, glancing around nervously. I decided it was best to head inside, where I felt safe.
As I hurried home, I glanced back one last time, but the garden was calm again, as if nothing had happened. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something unusual had just occurred, and I wondered about the mysterious dog in my garden. Perhaps it was a guardian of the cherry tree, watching over its fruits and secrets. Whatever the truth was, I knew I would be more cautious in my beloved garden from that day forward.
