I’m writing this not to scare anyone, but because I need help. Three months ago, my wife, her two sons, and I moved into a big, old farmhouse on the edge of a small town in Ohio. The house had been empty for years, but it was cheap and had plenty of space. For the first month, everything was fine. The boys loved the big yard, and we spent most weekends fixing up the place.”

“But then, the change came with my stepson, Alex. He’s nine. One night, he woke up screaming, saying there was a man in his room, standing in the corner. At first, I put it down to night terrors, or maybe he’d eaten too much sugar before bed. But it kept happening. Every single night, he’d wake up, crying, telling me about the man and a weird green light that would float around his room. I tried to calm him down, telling him it was just a nightlight or the reflection from his tablet. But he insisted it was real.”

“The nightmares started affecting his days. He became withdrawn, refusing to leave his room when he got home from school. He’d sit in his bed, staring at the corner, not even playing with his toys. His little brother, Sam, who is seven, started sleeping in our room because Alex would scream at night. My wife was worried, and I began to wonder if there was something really wrong with Alex. I tried to talk to him, but he’d just say, ‘He’s watching me. He’s waiting for you to leave.'”

“Last week, things got worse. I was home alone, cleaning out the attic, which was my project for the weekend. The previous owners had left a bunch of junk up there, and I was throwing things into trash bags. I noticed a small, green glass bottle on a shelf, dusty but intact. I picked it up and felt a chill, but I shrugged it off and put it in my pocket. That night, Alex threw a massive fit. He said the green light was brighter and that the man was coming closer. He refused to sleep in his room, so we set up a mattress for him in the hallway.”

“Then, I started seeing things. Late at night, I’d catch a glimpse of a green glow out of the corner of my eye. I’d turn, and it would be gone. I was getting less and less sleep, and I started to doubt my own sanity. I remember reading about carbon monoxide poisoning causing hallucinations, so I bought a detector. It was fine. But the atmosphere in the house was heavy, as if something was pressing down on us.”

“Two nights ago, I decided to search the attic thoroughly. I found a diary under the floorboards, hidden in a small compartment. It belonged to a woman named Margaret, who had lived here in the 1920s. The diary described how her husband, Elias, was a recluse who spent all his time in the attic, experimenting with something called ‘astral projection’. He claimed he could leave his body and travel as a green mist. Margaret wrote that he became obsessed, and eventually, his body wasted away, but she believed his spirit was still trapped in the house. She wrote, ‘He will not leave. He wants to possess my soul.’ The last entry was dated 1923, and it just said, ‘He is coming. The green light will take me.'”

“Now I’m terrified. I realize that this is not just a story. My stepson is in danger. I think Alex has the ability to see the ghost, and it’s trying to latch onto him. I don’t know what to do. I can’t just move; we signed a lease and can’t afford to break it. I tried to tell my wife, but she thinks I’m going crazy too. I need advice, or help. Has anyone dealt with something like this? How do I protect my family? Please, I’m desperate. I don’t want to wait until it’s too late.
