There’s a small town famous for its history, where many say ghosts still walk among the living. My uncle once had a strange experience there, one that he never forgot.

One summer, he and his two friends decided to visit the town and explore its museums and landmarks. They spent the day learning about an old battle that had taken place there long ago. A huge painting in one museum showed soldiers fighting, their faces full of fear and determination. It was hard to imagine such violence in a place now so quiet.

They checked into a small inn on the edge of town. The building looked old, with wooden beams and furniture that seemed to belong to another time. Just outside, an open field stretched into the distance, surrounded by a crumbling wooden fence.

That night, my uncle went to bed early, exhausted from the long day. But before dawn, he suddenly woke up. At first, he wasn’t sure why. Then, he heard it—music. Faint but growing louder. Drums and fifes, playing a tune that sent chills through his body.

Curious, he crept to the window and peered outside. The field was empty, yet the music continued as if invisible soldiers were marching right past him. He listened, frozen in place, until the sound slowly faded into silence.

The next morning, he told his friends what he had heard. They didn’t laugh or call him crazy. Instead, they nodded, saying many visitors had heard the same thing. The spirits of long-dead soldiers, trapped in time, still marching to the beat of their final battle.
