Each night, precisely at 10:00 PM, an unsettling noise breaks the silence in the house, sounding like footsteps on the wooden floor. My cat, who usually lounges peacefully, suddenly becomes alert, her ears perked up in alarm. For the past week, this strange sound has become a nightly occurrence. My cat rushes to the hallway, her tail puffed up, while I follow hesitantly behind.
When I reach the hallway, there’s nothing out of the ordinary. The front door remains locked, and the windows are secure. This continues to perplex me. After a few minutes, I return to my room, but the moment I settle in, I hear the noise again. It’s as if someone is pacing back and forth just outside my door.
A chill runs down my spine every time I hear it, making me feel as though I’m not alone. I dismiss it as just my imagination, but deep down, a nagging feeling tells me differently. Sometimes, a shadow flickers at the corner of my vision, causing me to glance over my shoulder, but nothing is there.
The unease grows, and the once comforting walls of my home feel foreign and threatening. I can’t shake the sensation of being watched, and sleep eludes me. I ponder if I should confide in someone, but the fear of sounding foolish keeps me silent. Each night drags on, filled with tension, as I wonder what truly lurks in the shadows of my home.
