A few years ago, I went on a trip with my family to visit a historic battlefield town known for its haunted sites. We spent the weekend exploring the area and joining various tours to learn more about the town’s history and its ghostly tales.
One of our tours took us inside an old house, where we saw doors and bed frames riddled with bullet holes from a long-ago battle. As we wandered through the house, admiring the old books and furniture, something strange happened. We saw drawer doors opening by themselves and a rocking chair moving back and forth, even though no one was sitting in it. It was as if someone unseen was there with us.
Later that night, our tour continued until late. We were gathered in a group, listening to our guide talk about the battle’s events. Suddenly, we heard the sound of rifles firing in the distance. It would have been easy to dismiss it as a reenactment or fireworks, but the noise was too close, and there were no signs of any reenactments taking place. We were alone in the fields, and there was no smoke or sulfurous smell from the old rifles. No fireworks were seen either, especially since we were near a forest, which could have easily caught fire.
Such incidents are reportedly common among visitors to this historic town. It left us all with an eerie feeling and a story to remember.
