Last month, I received an invitation from my friend Lila for a sleepover, joined by our pals Max, Jenna, and Raj. As usual, we stayed up late, sharing stories and laughing. But as dawn approached, strange things began to unfold.

We noticed that Lila’s decorative owl, with its bright, reflective eyes, seemed to be watching us more intently than ever. It was unsettling since it had no moving parts. Soon after, a peculiar shape flickered across the wall, almost human in form, as the room was plunged into darkness. I was terrified, my heart raced, and I could feel my legs tremble.

Then, we witnessed a pale silhouette dart out of the room. Driven by fear, we cautiously followed it, with me reluctantly leading the way as they joked about leaving me behind if anything happened. The figure led us to the kitchen, where a dish suddenly toppled off the counter and shattered on the floor without any one near it. We screamed and bolted back to the safety of our sleeping bags.

After that adrenaline rush, we finally crawled into our blankets, hoping for a peaceful rest, and slept for about six hours. But as I lay there, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the night was far from over.
