It was midnight when Lisa and her friend Mia finished their last round of popcorn in the kitchen. With their parents away for the weekend, they decided to host a party for their classmates. Excited, they had invited everyone from their sophomore class, hoping to make it a night to remember.

Mia was tasked with retrieving drinks from the basement. As she went down the stairs, Lisa heard a loud crash followed by Mia’s terrified voice. She rushed to the basement and found Mia pale and shaking. “I saw something strange down there!” Mia whispered, her eyes wide with fear. “It looked like a shadow, but it was… different.”

Lisa rolled her eyes, trying to lighten the mood. “You probably just scared yourself. Let’s grab those drinks and get the party started!” She made her way down the stairs, but found nothing unusual. With a shrug, she helped Mia gather the drinks and snacks, dismissing the incident as nerves.

As guests began to arrive, the house filled with laughter and music. People danced in the living room while others mingled in the kitchen, enjoying the snacks laid out. Everything seemed perfect until Mia suddenly rushed into the room, her face flushed with anxiety.

“We need to check the basement again!” she urged. “I swear I heard something down there!” This time, Lisa hesitated. The fun atmosphere was starting to feel a little unsettling. But wanting to be brave for her friend, she agreed to investigate together.

With flashlights in hand, they descended the stairs cautiously. The basement was dim, and the air felt heavy. As they reached the bottom, a strange chill swept through the room. They both turned to see a flickering light in the corner. Curiosity mixed with fear as they approached it, only to discover it was just an old lamp that needed a new bulb.

Relieved but still on edge, they laughed it off and headed back upstairs. The party continued, but the strange feeling lingered in the back of their minds. As the night wore on, Lisa and Mia decided to keep an eye out for any odd happenings, wondering if the night would hold more surprises than they had anticipated.
