In Kôji Wakamatsu’s audacious 1969 shocker, a free-spirited young couple’s romantic getaway in the Japanese countryside spirals into a nightmarish ordeal when they encounter a feral clan of hippie revolutionaries. What begins as a mind game of psychological cruelty slowly escalates into a visceral power play, while a taciturn yakuza gang watches from the shadows, adding a layer of tense anticipation. With its raw, unrestrained style and unsettling atmosphere, this film is a brutal exploration of sadism and social breakdown that refuses to look away.

“Wakamatsu doesn't hold back. The tension is relentless and the hippies are terrifyingly unhinged. If you're into raw, politically charged exploitation, this is a must-see.”

“I appreciate the historical significance and the atmosphere, but it drags in places and I didn't find it as shocking as I hoped. Some powerful moments, but not my favorite from the Pinky Violence era.”
CinephileBizarre – 7/10
“The film's brutal honesty about human cruelty and the disturbing parallel with the yakuza's voyeurism really got under my skin. It's ugly, but it's art.”

“A unique and gritty piece of cinema, though it feels dated. The performances are intense, but the lack of polish might throw some people off. Still, you won't stop thinking about it.”
