Seventeenth-century Hungary, torn by war with the Turks, hides a far more intimate terror: the shadow of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, whose blood rituals have cursed a remote Carpathian village. When Count Thurzo seals the Countess in a monastery tower, he takes her daughter under his wing, unknowingly planting a seed of darkness. Centuries later, writer Keith stumbles upon the legend, and as he digs deeper, the past begins to bleed into the present, threatening to drag him into a waking nightmare where the Countess’s thirst is far from quenched. Ancient evils never die—they simply wait for the right story to resurrect them.
