In this delightfully twisted 1975 romp, the titular Big Abner reigns supreme as the self-appointed champion of a backwoods hamlet where the locals have more than moonshine on their minds. With a roguish charm and a legendary appetite for ‘community service,’ he becomes the object of desire for every woman in town, from the earthy Pigpen to the wild-eyed Crazy Lay. But beneath the hillbilly hijinks and ribald humor lies a sinister undercurrent of possessive jealousy and buried secrets that threaten to unravel the town’s bawdy peace. As the flirtations turn dangerous and the laughter grows uneasy, Big Abner must navigate a web of lust, rivalry, and hidden darkness that could turn this rustic paradise into a nightmare.
