The Lost Ones Trailer: Something Is Very Wrong With This Family
A quiet house in the countryside.
A teenage girl who sees things other people can’t.
A suspicious neighbor.
And a family hiding secrets of its own.
That is the unsettling setup behind The Lost Ones, a new horror-thriller starring Henry Golding, Alex Pettyfer and Laura Haddock.
Paramount has released the official trailer, and while it doesn’t reveal everything, it makes one thing clear:
The family may be in much more danger than they realize.
What Is The Lost Ones About?
The story follows Mae, a teenage girl who has always experienced strange visions that nobody else can see.
Hoping for a fresh start, Mae’s family moves to a remote home in the countryside.
But the visions don’t stop.
Then they meet their new neighbor.
And something about him feels seriously wrong.
As Mae’s sixteenth birthday approaches, the family’s peaceful new life begins falling apart. The trailer suggests that the danger isn’t simply coming from outside the house — there are secrets inside the family too.
That’s what makes the setup interesting.
Is Mae actually seeing something supernatural?
Is the neighbor really the threat?
Or is the family slowly discovering something about themselves that they weren’t prepared to face?
The trailer isn’t giving us the answer yet.
And that’s probably a good thing.
Henry Golding Goes Dark
Henry Golding takes on the role of Mae’s father, with Laura Haddock playing her mother.
Alex Pettyfer also stars as Jack, while Saise Quinn plays Mae and Maddie Evans plays her sister Isabelle.
Golding has already moved beyond the romantic-comedy image associated with Crazy Rich Asians, appearing in action and thriller projects such as The Gentlemen and Snake Eyes.
The Lost Ones looks like another step into darker territory.
But the trailer doesn’t make him the obvious hero.
Instead, the family itself appears increasingly unstable as the mystery develops.
The Neighbor Might Not Be the Real Monster
This is probably the part we’re most interested in.
The trailer deliberately makes the neighbor look dangerous.
He’s strange.
He’s unpredictable.
And the family clearly doesn’t trust him.
But there’s another possibility:
What if he’s not the villain?
The official synopsis specifically teases that Mae’s family discovers secrets within their own walls while dealing with the suspicious neighbor.
That opens up a much more interesting horror question.
Sometimes the person standing outside the house isn’t the thing you should be afraid of.
Horror, Supernatural Mystery or Psychological Thriller?
The Lost Ones appears to be playing with several genres at once.
There’s supernatural horror.
There’s a family mystery.
There’s psychological tension.
And the trailer contains some bloody and violent moments as the situation becomes increasingly dangerous. Current listings describe the film as an R-rated horror-thriller for violence, bloody imagery and some language.
So don’t expect a straightforward monster movie.
The movie seems much more interested in making us question what is actually happening.
And that’s exactly the kind of setup that can work well when the mystery is protected until the right moment.
When Does The Lost Ones Come Out?
The Lost Ones is heading to digital platforms, rather than receiving a traditional wide theatrical release.
Paramount’s official trailer currently lists October 27, 2026 as the home-release date.
The movie is directed by Andrew Baird, with a screenplay by Miles Kelly and Brandon Robinson. The runtime is reported as approximately 87 minutes.
GHorror Take
The trailer hasn’t shown us enough to know whether The Lost Ones will actually deliver.
But that’s what makes it worth watching.
The combination of strange visions + isolated countryside + family secrets + a suspicious neighbor gives the movie several directions it could take.
And we’re hoping it doesn’t explain everything in the first 30 minutes.
Because the best part of this trailer is the question it leaves behind:
Who are the real Lost Ones?
Mae?
Her family?
The neighbor?
Or something we haven’t seen yet?
